Watch: Angry Matthew Wade throws his helmet, smashes a bat in the locker room after a controversial expulsion against the RCB

Matthew Wade of the Gujarat Titans endured a tough match in the Indian Premier League in 2022 and it looked like he would finally end his poor patch with a bat in Thursday’s match against the Royal Challengers Bangalore. He hit two fours and sixes on the way to 16 races on 12 balls, and just as things were looking around for Aussie, he was eliminated by Glenn Maxwell in the Powerplay final. Wade tried to sweep and missed the line of the ball and was hit by the hind leg; the ball seemed to deviate from its glove, but the ultra edge showed no such deviation and was judged as LBW. Although the technology did not suit Wade, the Australian was disgusted by the decision, and when he entered the locker room, he did not try to hide his anger.

The star Gujarat Titans dropped his helmet and smashed the bat several times in the locker room. Watches:

So far, Wade has recorded only 116 runs in eight innings in the current IPL season. In the opening few games for the party, Wade launched a bat alongside Shubman Gill; later it was dropped and brought back to page no.3.

Earlier in the game, the Gujarat Titans won the lottery and decided to fire against the RCB at Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai. The GT was the first team to secure a place in the playoff season, while the Lucknow Super Giants joined them on Wednesday.

The RCB, meanwhile, must secure the victory in order to strengthen their chances of qualifying for the playoffs. Thanks to its low Net Run Rate (-0.323), Bangalore must secure a high lead to victory in order to increase their chances of placing in the top 4.
