If you’re going on a long journey, spending time in a seasonal house or otherwise away, here’s a smart way to save money: Suspend cable and internet. Yes, you can do so and keep the many benefits of your service.

Here is the reason for the cancellation is not your best choice

When you go on a longer trip, there is no reason to pay for the internet at home. You may think that canceling and reactivating is the right way to go. That’s a bad idea.

  • You will often face a cancellation fee.
  • Canceling your service is frustrating and time consuming. You will probably be bombarded with questions about why you are canceling and offers that will keep you. And once you’re done, you’ll need to find time to return the equipment to the provider.
  • You will often pay an activation fee to reactivate your previous service or register with a new one.
  • Service recovery also takes some time. You will need to set up your plan, payment and equipment.

The good news is that many ISPs and cable / satellite providers allow you to suspend service, which is much more convenient.

Below I have gathered information on some of the largest providers in the country. If you don’t see yours, check out his website or give them a call.
