On the occasion of the 50th launch of the OnePlus smartphone this year, the company has just introduced two new phones for the United Kingdom – OnePlus Nord 2T and OnePlus Nord CE 2 Lite.
OnePlus Nord 2T is the star of them, it’s the higher end of both – but it’s also a remarkably similar phone to the OnePlus Nord 2.
It has a 6.43-inch FHD AMOLED screen with a refresh rate of 90 Hz and HDR10 +, 8 GB or 12 GB RAM, 128 GB or 256 GB storage, 4,500 mAh battery, 5G, 50MP main camera, 8MP ultra-wide, 2MP mono and 32MP front.
This is basically the same as the OnePlus Nord 2, but there are a few improvements. First, you get a faster 80W charge, which is the same as you find on the OnePlus 10 Pro. A better chipset (MediaTek Dimensity 1300) is also available and comes with newer software in the form of OxygenOS 12.1. Some enhanced camera features are also available, including night landscape and AI video modes.
This doesn’t sound like a huge upgrade, but with a starting price of £ 369 (roughly $ 460 / $ 655), it may not be because that’s exactly what OnePlus Nord 2 costs at the time of writing.
That’s for 8GB of RAM and 128GB of storage, and the price goes up to a pretty reasonable £ 469 (around $ 580 / $ 830) for 12GB of RAM and 256GB of storage.
As for the OnePlus Nord CE 2 Lite, which was previously launched in India, so we already knew what to expect. It has a 6.59-inch 120Hz LCD display, Snapdragon 695 chipset, 6GB RAM, 128GB storage, 5000mAh battery, 33W charging, 64MP main camera, 2MP depth sensor, 2MP macro and 16MP selfie. Camera.
You can pick up this phone for £ 279 (approximately $ 345 / AU $ 495), with both phones going on sale in the UK on 24 May. There’s not a word about availability in the US, but we wouldn’t expect to see them there, and Australia is even less likely because OnePlus doesn’t sell anything in Australia at the moment.
Eventually, OnePlus also launched OnePlus Nord Buds in the UK, following a recent announcement for the US. For $ 39 / £ 49 (around $ 85), they give you up to 98 decibels, Dolby Atmos sound, a 12.4mm titanium-coated driver, 4 microphones, artificial intelligence noise reduction algorithms and IP55 ratings.
You can expect 7 hours of battery life from Nord Buds, while the charging case offers 30 hours before recharging. There is no exact release date, but expect them sometime around June.
Analysis: The Nord range is constantly growing
Right now in the UK, OnePlus is selling the original OnePlus Nord, OnePlus Nord 2, OnePlus Nord CE and OnePlus Nord CE 2. So with the addition of these two new phones, the range will increase by 50%.
Of course, the company can end the OnePlus Nord 2 because the Nord 2T is a better phone for the same price. If the company hopes to continue selling the older model, it will be necessary to reduce the price at least.
OnePlus Nord CE may also need a price reduction if OnePlus hopes to continue selling it, as its price is almost at the same level as OnePlus Nord CE 2 Lite and on paper it looks like a slightly worse phone.
