The Chennai Super Kings had a season they forgot in the IPL 2022 because the party failed to make the playoffs for the second time in its history and finished in the ninth place in the league phase. The four-time champions didn’t like anything, but MS Dhoni found some form with a bat for CSK this season. CSK discarding specialist Kondappa Raj Palani, meanwhile, told the story of his interaction with Dhoni after the wicketkeeper-patter announced his international departure.
“The camp first started when Dhoni retired. That was the first time I saw him. He asked if you were a bouncer. He asked me to throw balls at him. The team was then satisfied. The pitchers talked about their retirement. After two or three “He came to play on a side gun in weeks. Everyone was coming,” Palani told Chennai Super Kings.
“Fleming, Hussey and everyone said Dhoni was coming and they asked me to throw carefully. The first two balls were wide. The next ball was full of balls. Dhoni came up to me and said ‘Stop looking and throwing at me.’ “I then started playing bowling where he wanted, and then he was very happy. Since then, he has started to address me every day on my behalf,” he added.
In IPL 2022, Dhoni recorded 232 runs in 14 games with an average of 33.14, with his highest score being 50 when he did not win against the Kolkata Knight Riders.
Before the start of IPL 2022, Dhoni resigned as captain and Ravindra Jadeja became captain. However, Jadeja resigned for eight games of the season and Dhoni returned to the lead.
Before CSK’s final league match against the Rajasthan Royals, Dhoni was asked again if he would return to the money-rich league next year.
“Sure, it’s a simple reason. It would be unfair not to play in Chennai and thank,” Dhoni said as he switched. “Mumbai is one place where I have a lot of love and affection as a team and as an individual, but you know, it won’t be nice to CSK fans. And hopefully next year will be an opportunity.” So it will be like thanking all the different places where games are played in different places.
“Whether it’s my last year or not is a big question, because we can’t predict something that’s in two years, but I will definitely work hard to get back strong next year,” Dhoni said when asked about his future.
