Your first instinct may be to shut down the damn thing to stop a malicious stalk. Unfortunately, that may not be enough.

A new type of malware created by researchers at Darmstadt University of Technology would be able to run even when your phone is turned off. And no, I’m not talking about a fake NSA-style shutdown screen.

“Baloney!” you’re screaming. How can malware run without electricity? The simple answer is that nowadays devices are seldom completely “turned off”.
