HOW IT HAPPENED Cheetahs against sharks

The home team secured a bonus point for trying at half-time, and even though they took their feet off the cradle in the second verse, there was never any doubt about the result.

Their cheetahs were usually enterprising when they chased sharks several times. They also headed the standards and physically dominated the Sharks.

The home team’s half-defenders, Ruan Pienaar and Siya Masuku, controlled the game well after getting enough ball forward from their package. The winger Rosko Specman was also ubiquitous and caused the Sharks all sorts of problems.

The cheetahs briefly moved to first place in the Currie Cup standings thanks to winning bonus points before the Bulls returned after a 43-37 win over the Lions in Pretoria later in the day. However, the cheetahs have a game on the Bulls.

The Sharks, meanwhile, suffered their fourth loss of the season and remain third with 24 points.
